HILLS MOVING INC. DAMAGE POLICIES AND LIMITS OF LIABILITY
Any claim of damages must be submitted in writing, via email, within 3 days from the move date. Claims must be supported with pictures and description of the damages. We will thoroughly investigate and determine resolution within 3 business days. Payment for services rendered must be received in full; it is illegal to withhold payment, as compensation, in the event of damage. Payment for services rendered must be received in full after the move. If customer hold back or does not pay after move, Hills Moving Inc. has a 400.00 fee will be added.
Simulated Wood Furniture (Example: IKEA) Movers are not responsible for damages to simulated wood furniture or particle board / pressed board furniture. This type of material is structurally weak and is not repairable and scratches easily.
Electrical Goods Movers are not liable to internal damage to electrical goods where no external damage has been caused. Some electrical goods may develop unavoidable faults no matter how carefully handled.
Fragile Items Dishware, porcelain, glasses, pictures, lamp shades, specialty items are not covered if not packed by our professional movers with adequate packing materials. You are welcome to purchase your own packing materials (packing paper, bubble wrap, foam peanuts, cartons, tape, etc.) and pack prior to your move. Our movers will take great precautions to ensure your breakables are moved as safely as possible.
Boxed Items All boxed items are moved under client/owner’s responsibility. The condition of the item(s) packed by customer/owner is not covered by Hills Moving, unless there is clear proof of physical damage to the box itself done by our movers. It is customer’s responsibility to inspect the boxes for physical damages upon delivery prior to movers’ departure. Hills Moving will not accept any claim of physical damages to boxes after movers had left the delivery location.
Self-inspection It is the customer’s responsibility, before signing the agreement at the end, (i) to inspect their belongings for reassurance that they were delivered in good condition; (ii) to inspect the inside of the truck for reassurance that nothing was left behind.
Downtime. All downtime is billable (waiting for elevator setup, property key holder is late, traffic, customer inspecting his/her belongings upon delivery, etc.).
Risky Tasks. Movers will not be responsible for damage caused by non-routine moving including but not limited to, standing pieces on end, sharp turns, over-crowded work areas, difficult stairways, snags and sharp edges in work areas and doorways, handing over balconies, railings, etc., tight squeezes, and damage caused by weather. You will be asked to sign a waiver if we agree to attempt any non-routine moving request.
Unavoidable damages not covered in any way. Damages occurred due to the size of the item compared to the size of a hall, doorway, stairs, and elevators or similar. Movers will attempt to get the item in if you desire but damages may occur. If you want the crew to stop, tell them. If movers are moving an item and there is a snag on a door frame or stairwell and it nicks or tears an item, we will not cover the damages. You will be asked to sign a waiver.
Absent Customers. We encourage our customers to be with us throughout the entire move. Whenever we move a piece of furniture we like to be able to point out any scratches, marks, or dings that you may not have noticed. If for some reason, you are not able to be there for your move or if you need to leave in the middle of the move, we need you to sign a release accepting all the items in the condition that we bring them to you. We will not be responsible for any missing items, or damaged items. We will not be responsible for any of your items that were not moved
